
Shaymaa Shoukry is a Dancer, Choreographer, Dance Teacher, Mother, Experimental Musician, Martial Artist and healing practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Shaymaa is interested in creating multilayered and multidisciplinary choreographic works, with an immersive research around the origin of movement, repetition, and transformation, tackling sociopolitical concerns, while exploring approaches to share her practices with publics from diverse backgrounds and various landscapes.
Shaymaa studied Visual Arts and Theatre at the American University in Cairo and Modern Dance at the Cairo Opera House School of 2006. She Followed the Contemporary Dance Workshops program at Studio Emad Eddin 2008-2011 and competed ‘Seeds’ Training for Dance Teaching in 2012- 2013. She obtained a diploma in Traditional Chinese Energetics From Meshkah Cairo and Collage S.F.E.R.E France 2020-2022. Co- founder and artistic director of Dayer for artistic productions company based in Cairo and functions internationally.
Shaymaa had the pleasure to be hosted as an artist in residence, share her choreographic works, teaching practices in a number of national and international dance spaces and festivals; D-CAF Cairo , Dancing on the edge, Edinburgh Fringe, Copenhagen Stage, L’Hivernals d’Avignon, Festival de la cité Lausanne, Belfast international Arts Festival, PLACCC International Festival Budapest.
